I am learning to look at the first and last sounds in words to help me work out new words.

" I can make the first sound of the words and look at the pictures." said Aaron

Wonderful writing

We are learning to use adjectives in our stories to make them interesting.

"I can write the words by sounding out the letters." said Aaron

Using basic shapes

We are learning to identify basic shapes and make and make a picture.

"This is my person. I used a circle for a head. I used a rectangle for a body," said Aaron.

We are learning to use water and a paint brush to blend our watercolour pastels.

Aaron your writing shows that you are beginning to use the letter names and sounds to help you write the first sound in new words.

"I can write one sentence" said Aaron

Writing numbers

Aaron you are now able to write and recognise the numbers from 1-10.  We are working on getting your numerals around the right way.

"I can write my numbers" said Aaron

Phonics

Aaron, you are able to write the letter, its sound and say a word associated with 20 out of 29 sounds.

"I can write lots of letters by myself." said Aaron

Learning with Youthtown

Here I am participating in our Youth Town Programme. It’s all about having fun and learning new skills. I am learning to play in a team.

Mathematics

I am learning to identify all numerals to 10.  I was able to recognise 8 and match the same number of pegs to the caterpillar.

"I can count to 10 and count 8 legs for the caterpillar." said Aaron

Reading

I am learning to point to each word so I don't miss any words out.  


"I can point to the words, and look at the pictures to help me" said Aaron

I am learning to illustrate a story that I have written from my story writing book. 

"I can make a finger space without my finger so that you know how to read it." said Aaron

I am learning to draw a self portrait

We first sketched what we thought we looked like into our sketchbooks.  Mrs Scott showed us how to sketch all our features.  We used watercolour paints for our artwork.

Writing numbers

Aaron you have been working hard to learn the correct formation of your numbers.  You are now able to write and recognise numbers up to 7.

 Look at your story at the beginning of the year and look at how many more things you can do now. Keep trying! 

    

Fun in the pool

What a great time you are having in the school pool! You are learning to get ready for swimming independently and are gaining confidence in the water.
